Leaders are equippable animals that are obtained by having enough of specific animals.

Obtaining

Each leader has five favorite animals. When the player has 50[note 1] score across the leader's favorite animals and at least one relic[citation needed], they have a 0.25% chance to obtain the leader upon rescuing a favorite animal. Every score past the minimum increases the obtaining chance by 0.25%, up to a maximum of 25%.[1] Every leader you have increases the minimum score needed to obtain a leader by 5.[citation needed]

Effects

A new leader can be chosen every 12 hours. This cooldown can be reduced with the Efficiency leader XP upgrade and with the Mango garden plant.

Whenever the chosen leader's conditions are met, its effect triggers, reducing the player's rescue cooldown and quest duration. The leader will also earn one leader XP, with a maximum of 30 earnable leader XP per leader. Rice Cracker reduces cooldown and quest duration, but does not earn leader XP.

Rescuing a leader's favorite animal grants 1 luck for that rescue.[2]

Upon reaching 5, 10, 20, and 30 Leader XP, Your leader levels up and their cooldown reducing abilities are stronger.

Whenever a leader is activated 100 times, a specific cosmetic is gained, unique to each leader. (The cosmetics can be seen on the last column in the Leaders table.)

Leader XP

Leader XP is gained upon each leader activation. Every time a leader is activated, you gain 1 Leader XP which can be used to obtain various upgrades from the leader shop and upgrade your leader. Each leader can only grant a maximum of 30 Leader XP

    so first of all, keep in mind that in order to find a leader you have to rescue one of its preferred animals. so you can only unlock a kitsune when rescuing a fox/cat/etc

    actually i dont think cat is kitsune
    dog is
    you get the point
    so by default you need 50 combined total score across all their favorite animals, + 5 for each leader you have
    lets call that the minscore
    for every point of score past the minscore, the chance increases by 0.25%
    and caps out at 25%
    so if you have 80 total score for kitsune-related animals, and you already have two leaders, then the minscore would be 60 and the remaining 20 score goes towards increasing the chance for unlocking the animal
    so the % chance would be 0.25 x 20

    so 5%
